H2 Energy Europe appoints Cyril Cabanes as CEO

Zurich, 17 July 2024 – H2 Energy Europe, a developer of large-scale green hydrogen ecosystems majority-owned by Trafigura, today announced the appointment of Cyril Cabanes as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 5 August.
Cyril succeeds Julien Rolland, Head of Strategic Projects and Investments for Trafigura, who also served as Interim CEO for Trafigura investment H2 Energy Europe since late 2023, overseeing key projects and corporate strategy. Julien remains on the board of H2 Energy Europe as Chairman.
Cyril brings over 26 years’ experience in energy and infrastructure investment, with a strong track record in developments, acquisitions, portfolio management and capital raising.
His international experience spans roles in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, where he successfully managed large portfolios and led high-profile infrastructure projects. His extensive board experience includes working in the renewables, utilities, transport, social infrastructure and natural resources sectors.
His previous roles include as Managing Director at global investment group CDPQ, Senior Vice President at Marubeni Asian Power and Director at RREEF Infrastructure (DWS). Cyril’s extensive expertise and leadership will be important to advance H2 Energy Europe’s strategic projects and growth plans in the green hydrogen sector.

Cyril holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Strategy from ESCP Business School, Paris and is an accredited company director from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
